I always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. My love for animals started early, and throughout high school and college, I worked with them whenever I could. But everything changed when I was 21 and a junior in college. My dad passed away unexpectedly at just 52 years old. Years of smoking and poor eating habits had caught up with him, and suddenly, he was gone.
Losing my dad was incredibly hard, but what made it even worse was the situation he left behind. He had remarried, and unfortunately, didn’t have a plan in place for his children from previous relationships. His new spouse was unfriendly, and the result was a disaster: I found myself unintentionally disinherited and completely left out of his afterlife plans. It was devastating and traumatic.
After taking time to grieve, I realized I wanted to make a difference. I couldn’t change what happened to me, but maybe I could help others avoid the same pain. So, I took a pre-law class and eventually decided to go to law school. Today, I help others protect their legacies by creating estate plans, planning for long-term care, and navigating probate court after losing a loved one. My goal is to ensure that no one has to go through what I did, and that families are protected and prepared for whatever life brings.
I’m a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a business owner – I am just like you.
